Chicken shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern street food originating in Turkey, and is becoming very popular in Mediterranean restaurants in the U.S. While most of us don’t have a vertical spit at home for roasting the meat, a good old-fashioned grill does the trick along with Spicekick Tikka Masala seasoning mix!
Ingredients
-
2 pounds chicken thighs, boneless, skinless, trimmed
-
1 packet Spicekick® Tikka Masala seasoning
-
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
Directions
Preheat grill on medium heat (about 350-375 degrees F).
Sprinkle the chicken on both sides with the seasoning. Drizzle on the vinegar. (You may cook the chicken right away or allow it to marinate for a few hours.)
When the grill is hot, oil the grates with tongs and a paper towel coated in cooking oil.
Place the chicken on the grill, smooth sides down, and cook 5 minutes. Turn and cook a few more minutes until cooked through.

Recipe Note
Serve grilled chicken shawarma with Naan or soft pita bread, hummus, tahini sauce, tzatziki (more traditionally served with gyros, but Michelle loves this combo), sliced tomatoes and chopped parsley.
Also great with this chicken is a refreshing side salad - click for Michelle's Fresh Tomato Cucumber Salad with Mint and Lemon.
