Spicekick 7 Layer Dip Recipe with Black Bean Hummus uses Spicekick Taco Seasoning mix to give these beans the classic taco dip flavor everyone knows and loves. Cooking the beans for about half an hour and blending with tahini, lime juice and a couple ice cubes creates the smoothest dip that is absolutely perfect as the base layer of a seven layer dip. It is so similar to a classic layer dip base that you may never go back to using cream cheese again. A must-try for your next gameday party!
Ingredients
For the hummus:
-
1 can (15 oz) black beans (about 1 ½ cups), drained
-
¼ teaspoon baking soda
-
⅓ cup tahini paste
-
2 tablespoons Spicekick Taco seasoning mix
-
Juice of 1 ½ limes
-
4 ice cubes
For the toppings:
-
½ cup jarred roasted salsa
-
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or crumbled cojita cheese
-
½ cup sour cream, thinned with a little milk for drizzling consistency
-
1 large avocado, diced
-
½ cup kalamata olives, sliced
-
¼ cup chopped cilantro, green onions, or chives
Directions
To make the hummus:
Place the beans and baking soda in a medium pot and cover with water. Simmer on low for 30 minutes, until the beans smash easily against the side of the pot with a fork.
Combine beans, Spicekick Taco seasoning, tahini, lime juice and ice cubes in a food processor. Process until smooth, scraping down the sides once.
To serve:
Transfer black bean hummus to a shallow bowl or platter. Drizzle the salsa in a thin layer. Sprinkle the cheese. Drizzle with sour cream. Sprinkle the avocado, olives and cilantro or onion.
